On December 6, 2007, Starbucks Coffee Co. recalled 167,000 coffee mugs after receiving reports that the handles on the mugs could break off, possibly causing the user to spill hot coffee. The company has received 23 reports of the handles detaching, resulting in nine reports of burns caused by coffee spills.
